With extensive experience in emergency medicine, Dr. Smith has instilled a triage-based approach to care in our clinic. This means that the most critically ill or injured patients will always be seen first, regardless of the appointment schedule. Care is focused on triage and stabilization, followed by referral to an emergency facility or humane euthanasia when appropriate.

If you have a routine appointment and an emergency case arrives, we may ask you to reschedule. We may apply a rescheduling fee for the more urgent case in these instances to offset the financial disruption, but this policy ensures that we can be there for pets when they need us most. This same priority will be given to you if your pet is ever in distress.

While we are not a 24-hour emergency facility and do not offer overnight monitoring or hospitalization, we will always do our best to see our established patients for urgent matters during business hours.

For animals with critical conditions where advanced treatment is not an option (due to prognosis or financial constraints), we can provide a compassionate alternative to a stressful and expensive trip to an emergency hospital by offering humane euthanasia in our clinic.

We will always make time for euthanasia for any animal in need of this service, whether they are an established patient or not.

Financial Policy

We are committed to financial transparency and open communication about the costs of veterinary care. For new puppies and kittens, we will provide you with a clear list of our recommendations and their associated costs.

We strongly believe in the long-term health benefits of our recommendations. However, we understand that finances can be a concern. We will always work with you to develop an alternative plan that fits your budget.

You will never be sent to a referral or emergency clinic without a realistic estimate of the potential costs you may face there.

If a critical pet requires care that is not financially feasible, we will openly discuss humane euthanasia as a compassionate and much lower-cost alternative.

Please note that payment is typically expected at the time of service and we accept CareCredit, credit cards and checks. You can learn more or apply for financing through CareCredit.
