Preventative care is a cornerstone of our practice, focusing on establishing a foundation for a long and healthy life for your pet. We provide comprehensive services for animals at all life stages.
Puppies & Kittens
We offer exams for new puppies, kittens, and entire litters. This includes issuing clinic-generated health papers to provide new owners with assurance of their pet’s health status. Please note, these are not USDA-certified health certificates.
Our vaccination schedule begins with the first distemper vaccine between 6 and 8 weeks of age, with follow-up appointments at 12 and 16 weeks.
A young growing animal will have a first full exam with the veterinarian, followed by a second, shorter recheck exam to monitor their development. Subsequent vaccine-only appointments that are not urgent can be handled by our technicians at a lower cost.
Spay and Neuter Policy
Due to our clinic’s size and equipment, our surgical services are limited. We perform neuters for male cats, which we plan to schedule as a once-a-month clinic.
We do not perform spays for female cats or any spay/neuter procedures for dogs, as we are not equipped for abdominal surgeries that require gas anesthesia and intubation.
For these procedures, as well as more complex cases like cryptorchidism (undescended testicles), we will provide you with a referral to either a low-cost spay/neuter clinic or a traditional veterinary practice that can offer more extensive pre-surgical diagnostics.
Adult and Senior Wellness
We recommend yearly health checks for all pets, even when they are young and appear healthy, to catch any potential issues early.
For pets over 5 years of age, we recommend annual blood work. This helps establish a normal baseline and allows us to track trends over time, which is invaluable for early disease detection.
For senior pets or those with chronic conditions requiring medication, we may recommend exams twice a year and more frequent blood work to closely monitor their health.
Our Philosophies On
Diagnostics & Health
While we have limited in-house blood work capabilities for emergencies, we send most samples to an external laboratory. This approach is more cost-effective for you and provides us with far more comprehensive information.
To help us get a complete picture of your pet’s health, we encourage you to bring a fresh fecal sample to your appointment. If possible, a first-morning urine sample (kept refrigerated) is also extremely helpful.
Preventatives
We strongly recommend the use of an all-in-one preventative product from the isoxazoline class. These products protect against heartworm, intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks, and are also effective against certain skin mites.
A consistent preventative protocol is one of the most effective ways to manage and prevent the vast majority of chronic skin and ear issues in dogs, breaking the frustrating cycle of recurrent infections.
We understand these products are an investment. To provide the best price, we utilize an online pharmacy.
This allows us to offer competitive pricing similar to other online retailers while preventing the clinic from having to carry a large, expensive inventory. Using our online pharmacy provides essential support to our clinic, and we appreciate you choosing it when prices are comparable.
Financial Policy
We strongly believe in the long-term health benefits of our recommendations. However, we understand that finances can be a concern. We will always work with you to develop an alternative plan that fits your budget.
You will never be sent to a referral or emergency clinic without a realistic estimate of the potential costs you may face there.
If a critical pet requires care that is not financially feasible, we will openly discuss humane euthanasia as a compassionate and much lower-cost alternative.
Please note that payment is typically expected at the time of service and we accept CareCredit, credit cards and checks. You can learn more or apply for financing through CareCredit.
